In this class Pastor Tim begins explaining some of the main principles of how to properly interpret the Bible.
Interpreting what we read (or hear) is a given.
We're created to do this!
Since we're going to be interpreters then why not work to be accurate ... especially with regard to God's Word?
Accurately interpreting God's Word involves considerations of:
- Culture
- Custom
- Language
- Situation
- Time
- Covenant
The interpretive journey of scripture includes answering the following questions:
"What did the text mean to the biblical audience?"
"What are the differences between the biblical audience and us?"
"What is the theological principal in this text?"
"How does our theological principal fit with the rest of the Bible?"
"How do individual Christians live out the theological principals?"
